Clapham Junction

This was one of Bamboo Landscaping’s most creative garden design projects. The house, which had just been extended with a big folding glass door at the back, was at an angle to the garden, with the existing steps. Rather than trying to disguise the angle, we made a feature of it, extending the decking area with the wood cut at angles for a stunning visual effect.

Beyond the decking we built a paved seating area with a concealed storage space on one side, blending into the slatted trellis perimeter fencing. The focal feature is a beautiful burnt oak pergola, which we burnt on site using a technique that we have developed ourselves.

The planting is modern Japanese, complementing the dark wood of the pergola and providing a softening border between the decking and paved area. The overall effect is an elegant, modern garden design that provides a seamless extension from the interior and maintains its charm and practicality all year round.
