The existing space was very bare, laid with a concrete base, which Bamboo Landscaping decided to make the foundation of the garden design. We re-rendered the rear wall and painted it white to give a clean, sharp backdrop to the focal feature: a warm cedar bench seat with a heat lamp above, speakers on either side and a small raised bed at one end, filled with tropical-effect plants. Behind this we positioned the mirror to create the illusion of more plants and we put a strip of light under the seat for a very effective nocturnal look.
The gate and side walls have been clad with slatted trellis and the concrete is covered with an artificial ‘lawn’. Two large planters down one side, planted with black bamboo (phyllostachys nigra), complete the look of a clean, practical and welcoming all-weather garden.
